The science is clear: climate change is the crisis of our time and must be addressed by all sectors of society at unprecedented speed and scale. Transformative climate action that reduces emissions, boosts adaptive capacity, increases energy access, minimizes energy poverty, protects and restores ecosystems, and meets core human needs, is sorely needed. However, achieving this is challenged by the new partnership and governance models that are required for us to bridge silos and collaborate together to re-orient human systems onto a zero carbon and climate resilient pathway.
In response to this challenge, the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate & Energy (GCoM) and UN-Habitat invite you to join the Innovate4Cities Global Marketplace, taking place on a dedicated virtual platform from 10-12 October 2023. This is a follow-up to the first Innovate4Cities conference that took place in October 2021, itself a follow-up to the first Cities and Climate Change Science Conference in Edmonton in 2019.
Building on priorities identified via key city & climate change science agendas, the Innovate4Cities Global Marketplace is a collaborative hub linking cities, local governments, funders, academia, and others to address crucial urban policy, research, and innovation gaps. This three-day virtual event, customized with regional sessions, aims to forge partnerships that leverage shared priorities, driving net-zero, climate-resilient urban solutions for a sustainable future.
