Svante Pääbo has been awarded the 2022 Nobel Prize in medicine or physiology for his groundbreaking work in establishing the science of archaeogenomics, and for for his discoveries concerning the genomes of ancient hominins and their implications for human evolution. There is a nice write up on Pääbo, his work, and the Prize here. As far as we are aware, Pääbo is only the second anthropologist to receive the Nobel Prize (the first being Elinor Ostrom, in 2009). Congratulations Svante!
Congratulations to Svante Pääbo!
